On Tuesday, three people were charged and remanded to appear at court at a later date.
A 17-year-old boy from Narre Warren South was charged with aggravated carjacking, aggravated burglary and the theft of motor vehicle.
A 16-year-old boy from Elwood was charged with multiple counts of aggravated burglary, aggravated carjacking, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.
A 22-year-old man from Narre Warren was charged with conduct endangering life, aggravated burglary, robbery and theft of motor vehicle. He will face Dandenong Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
A 17-year-old girl from Hampton Park was charged with robbery and bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
Four boys, aged 14, 15, and two aged 16, as well as two men, aged 18 and 23 – were released pending summons.
On Halloween night, police believe the same group of violent offenders were behind six separate attacks that took place between 5.30pm on October 31 and 3.30am the next morning.
The alleged spree spanned six suburbs in Melbourne’s south-east. Residents were allegedly badaulted, egged and threatened.
Detective Senior Constable Lal Devinder Singh said at the time that police had identified nine alleged victims and that CCTV footage was being badysed for clues.
In 2017, Victoria saw a drop in aggravated burglaries per 100,000 people, falling from 67 in 2016 to 59. But while the rate has decreased, 2017 was still the second-worst year in the past decade for aggravated break-ins.
The Melbourne local government areas with the highest rate of residential aggravated burglaries in 2017 were Port Phillip (112 offences per 100,000 people), Yarra (100), Melbourne (86), Maribyrnong (80) and Greater Dandenong (77).
