The child killer demands a limited release of psychiatric supervision

David Janzow killed his four-year-old son, Luca, in July 2014 The Supreme Court ruled that even though the objective elements of the murder offense had been proven, Janzow was mentally incompetent at that time .

He was ordered to be detained in a mental health facility for life.

Defense attorney Stephen Ey requested that two psychiatric reports be prepared, with prosecutor Lucy Boord not being opposed.

Judge Trish Kelly will review the reports when the case goes to court in October. 15.

In a statement of impact on the emotional victim that was read in court in 2015, the boy's mother, Julia Trinne, described him as a special soul, a cheeky, intelligent and creative boy.

Mrs. Trinne said that the murder had left her "completely and incomprehensibly broken" and wishing her husband to have taken her instead.

"I know what it's like to fall to your knees without knowing if I can get up," says Ms. Trinne.

"A living nightmare does not come close to what I've gone through."

But she also said that she had loved her 11-year-old husband and she hoped that the death of her his son would draw attention to mental health issues and the fight against mental illness.

She said that her husband had suffered for a while, and then became very sick very quickly

. Ms. Trinne told the court that her actions and no suggestions from her family were in danger.

In documents previously presented to the court, Janzow claimed to have stabbed his son because of delusional beliefs that the boy would become a psychopath like him.
