Police seized enough cannabis plants to fill a 12-meter sea container during one of the largest raids in Western Australia's history on a rural property north of Perth. .
More than 7,000 plants were found growing in 14 commercial-scale greenhouses on the 19-hectare Red Gully property near Gingin.
Police said cannabis has a potential market value of more than $ 10 million, making it one of the biggest successes ever recorded in this state.
"The scale and sophistication of this operation was considerable," said Sgt. Michael Rowson.
"I've never seen anything like it – it's obviously related to organized crime."
The farm was deserted at the time of the raid
Police said the greenhouses were in plain view and nothing was done to hide them.
"It was not hidden at all, you could see the structures of the road," said Sgt. Rowson.
"We had no idea how big the scale was before arriving on the property."
Police did not specify what had led the agents to the property, but she suspected the installation of greenhouses for about three months.
Nobody was on the farm when the police raided the raid and investigations continue to locate the perpetrators.
