Berlin (APA / Reuters) – According to a study, autonomous driving will bring billions of dollars in savings to Germany in the future. This reports the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag", citing a survey of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).
As a result, experts predict a reduction in national economic costs of 8.3 billion euros per year and a reduction in CO2 emissions of 6.2 million tons. In the long run, fully autonomous driving could even save at least 15 billion euros a year.
According to DIHK experts, driverless driving reduces fuel consumption and operating costs by saving time and increasing safety. The expected reduction of the average driving time by 20% would represent a saving of 4.1 billion euros per year. According to the preliminary report, the study predicts that fully automated driving elements, such as driverless parking, will be used by 2030.
