According to a report, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will come to Germany for a state visit in autumn. Erdogan's Berlin trip is expected to be completed by the end of September, the "Bild" newspaper (Saturday edition) reported, citing government circles in Ankara and Berlin. The exact date is still being negotiated.
Erdogan went to Berlin several times, the last time in 2014. The September visit will however be his first visit since the arrival of the presidency four years ago. According to "Bild", the protocol of a state visit, the highest level of diplomatic exchange, includes a reception by the Federal President with military honors and a state banquet.
Erdogan was confirmed in the Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections in June. The constitutional reform of last year and the badociated introduction of the presidential system in Turkey gives the head of state a significant increase in power.
