The brutal rape of an 18-year-old man in front of a discotheque in Friborg raises many questions. Up to now, eight men are in detention, including seven Syrians. Investigators check if there are other offenders. The evaluation of body traces is in progress.

This case triggers a national horror: the alleged rape committed against an 18 year old man in Freiburg could have involved more offenders than what we previously knew. The day after the incident, the 18-year-old lodged a complaint against a stranger in a police station.

During the evaluation of the seized DNA traces, several results were obtained at the end of last week. The previous weekend, a 19-year-old suspect of Syrian nationality was arrested in a refugee camp in Freiburg.

"New intensive investigations, interrogations, forensic investigations as well as secret measures" resulted in the last week "in the arrest of seven other suspects," police said. The seven Syrians aged 19 to 29 and a 25-year-old German suspected of being arrested are in detention. Specifically, they are accused of violating the student.

Almost all the captured suspects were already known to the authorities for other crimes, it was said. Most of them lived in refugee camps in and around Freiburg.
