"If necessary, we will take industrial action to impose fast and excellent financial conditions," says the text of the resolution adopted by the company committees. One of them took place on Tuesday in Vienna-Liesing. About 450 elevator mechanics from renowned companies such as Kone, Thyssenkrupp or Otis took part in the event.
A total of 350 company meetings are held throughout Austria, for example at BMW, Magna, MAN, Rosenbauer, Bosch or parts of the Voest. In particular, employees are informed of the status of the negotiations.
The union's demands are known: 5% more salaries and wages or at least 100 euros more per month should attract the 192,000 employees of the metal industry. It's too much for employers. They offer a good compensation for inflation of 2% and a share of the increase in productivity estimated at 0.7%.
Union working time requirements, such as higher premiums and paid breaks for long working hours, as well as the protection against dismissal of those who refuse 12 hours or 60 hours of work hours per week, are always respected. The overview: The requirements of Metaller-KV concrete >>
Employers consider that the union's "damage package" is detrimental to the site. To conclude Thursday, the union must act – otherwise you would simply accept the fighting measures, said spokesman for the metallurgical industry, Christian Knill. "It will be uncomfortable, but it's even more unpleasant if we overwhelm burdens companies as the union demands."
On Thursday, November 8, the union and the employers will meet again at 1 pm to discuss the matter again. The big bargaining team will be at the headquarters of the ÖGB. Negotiations themselves should take place in a Viennese hotel. (Apa / red)
