CNN sued the White House for locking out reporter Jim Acosta. In a suit filed Tuesday in Washington, the broadcaster claims that the suspension of accreditation is a violation of constitutional rights of Acosta and CNN, said the broadcaster on its website.

The White House had justified the move by claiming that the 47-year-old journalist had wrongfully touched a White House intern at a tumultuous press conference given by President Donald Trump last week, which wanted to take the microphone. The president had previously cut short and offended Acosta by asking questions about immigration policy and the case surrounding Russia's possible influence on Trump's 2016 US election campaign. After the scandal, the presidential office Acosta withdrew its accreditation.

At the first press conference following the congressional elections, Trump showed entrepreneurial spirit when he said he was ready to cooperate in a non-partisan way. But the feeling quickly changed and he issued warnings against the Democrats.

Criticism of interrogative questions

The situation quickly escalated when Acosta took the microphone to ask questions. In the opinion of many professional observers, he was intrusive and interrogative and left no opportunity for journalists to ask questions during his forced pbadage.

Trump lost patience. "That's enough," he says several times. A trainee then tried to take Acosta's microphone, which refused for a while, while the trainee did not know what to do. In one scene, Acosta also seems to be pushing his arm. Later, Acosta took out the mic, but Trump swore, "I'll tell you something: CNN should be ashamed of your work for her, you are a rude and terrible person."

A little later, followed the supposedly unprecedented process of withdrawal of accreditation by the White House. Sarah Sanders, spokeswoman for the presidency, said that Acosta's behavior was "totally unacceptable". CNN and Acosta rejected the allegation that he improperly touched the young woman by lying to her.
