21-year-old man killed Sunday night – request for detention
INNSBRUCK. After the knife attack against a 21-year-old Vorarlberger on Sunday night, the public prosecutor's office of Innsbruck on Monday night filed a request for provisional placement of the 24-year-old suspect's pretrial detention .

The magistrate now has 48 hours to rule on this request, said prosecutor Thomas Willam's spokesman at APA.
At 24, he continues to deny any connection to crime. "However, according to the police and the prosecutor responsible, video recordings show that the victim is most likely 24," Willam said. The prosecution had therefore made a request for detention in suspicion.
During the investigation, "concrete evidence" would have shown that the act could be linked to an addiction-related transaction in a restaurant of the "Bogenmeile" of Innsbruck shortly before, had said investigator LKA Christoph Hundertpfund. In the survey conducted among several members of this Vorarlberg group, with whom the 21-year-old was traveling, this would have revealed no more precise information.
According to Hundertpund, the autopsy of the corpse revealed that the 21-year-old had been killed by a single stab at the neck. In any case, the murder weapon was a stabbed weapon, probably a knife, explained the investigator.
The 21-year-old arrived in Innsbruck on Saturday with eight friends on a train from Vorarlberg. Around 0.30 pm, the group went to a restaurant in the "Bogenmeile", which they left about 45 minutes later. Then a man followed the group up to the intersection Ing. Etzel-Strae / Museumstrae. According to the police, he unexpectedly and surprisingly attacked the 21-year-old, the last member of the group, from behind.
The Vorarlberger was immediately after first aid by an ambulance delivered to the clinic in Innsbruck. There he succumbed a little later to his serious wounds.
The dead fled north immediately after the attack. As a result of an emergency investigation, the executive arrested two Afghans. One of them, aged 20, was finally released. His 24-year-old fellow was, however, taken to the police detention center. Monday night he was taken to Innsbruck Prison.
