Is it a gift to be able to sleep 100 years like Sleeping Beauty? Especially when you do not know anything about life anymore. ,, This question is explored in the play "Stabochen und weg", created in the context of Wien Modern in the Vienna jungle, based on a concept and composed by Elisabeth Schimana, produced by Netzzeit.
Sitting on a soft pink carpet between two podiums covered with translucent panels, the public hears the original text first. Then, the monologue of a narrator, composed of badociative highlights, will explore the question of what the sleeping beauty is saving when she sleeps at the very moment she reaches puberty. In the monologue of Ann Cotten, which Christian Reiner recites barefoot and in black suit, it is about the fear of getting pregnant involuntarily, the misunderstanding of why we should bleed every month, but also about A polluted environment, helplessness of the war more.
The confusion felt by some people at this age (the target audience of the play is 14 years old and over) is revealed here not only in the monologue itself. Very complex and fragmentary lyrics are recited, the musicians of Airbone extended bring him the same sounds as on old instruments – like Virginal, Spinettino and Paetzold, but also harps and flutes.
Sometimes the flute sounds like a moving train, sometimes the harp is roughly pinched or played with a broom. In the flute is inserted in, a sheet is moved wiping on the harp. Monochrome in the background, digital pin stitching evokes badociations with the original story. Even the narrator expires from time to time in a hissing sound. Sometimes the musicians send him strong, whispered words, and he breaks the long monologue again with a hard, high, swelling tone.
Even the musicians sleep here
Suddenly, a silence that looks like a truce. Centennial sleep begins, during which all the musicians lengthen and the narrator puts on virtual reality glbades. On the panels in front of the podiums are controlled by his images controlled head movements. The waves of color come together, a toucan appears from time to time.
Markus Wintersberger, who created the projections, leaves little trace. Since the musicians have also fallen into century-old sleep, the soundtrack disappears: chirps and tweets, which mingle with mechanical noises, roars and clatter.
Back in the waking world – according to Cotten's text, accompanied by woodworms taking up their dangerous work for work and fish that continue to ravage, even bleeding from rose hedges – the narrator says: "I do not do not know me, I can not "It is feared that some young people do not see this extremely complex musical theater in the jungle. Consume, it's different. However, a certain factor of freshness can not be refused to this project.
