Koala female Bunji is here

Plush ears, silver gray fur and big buttoned nose: Yesterday, a new koala female is installed in the Tiergarten Schönbrunn and is already visible to visitors. "Bunji was born in Lisbon Zoo in May 2017. She was pbaded on to us by the international breeding program as a suitable female for our male Wirri Wirri," explains Tiergartendirektorin Dagmar Schratter. Accompanied by his nurse, Bunji traveled in the space reserved for the pbadengers of the plane – of course in a transport box. "I talked a lot with Bunji during the flight and she was very quiet," said guard Ana Rodrigues, who stayed in Vienna until Friday to facilitate. Incidentally, the name "Bunji" (pronounced Bunschi) means "friends" in the native language.
Arrival in his new home, Bunji has explored everything with curiosity and has already eaten his first eucalyptus on Viennese soil. Wirri Wirri watched his arrival closely. "Wirri Wirri looked at her with wide eyes and even interrupted her afternoon nap," says zoologist Eveline Dungl. Koalas are solitary. Bunji and Wirri Wirri each have their own establishment. But they have an odor and a visual touch. It becomes exciting in the springtime love season. Koalas become badually mature at the age of two to four years. The Tiergarten hopes to have offspring. Koalas live in Schönbrunn since 2002. The female Mirra Li has been asleep this year at the age of 18 years old koala. In their native Australia, koalas are threatened by deforestation of eucalyptus forests.
