Vienna. After more than 13 years at the head of the APA newsroom, 54-year-old Michael Lang resigned as editor-in-chief of the Austrian Press Agency at the end of the year. "After almost a year of badyzing and designing the future of the news agency, the time has come for a structural change and a fresh start," Lang said.

Managing Director Clemens Pig thanked Lang for his many merits and was delighted to have the 54-year-old from 2019 head of the APA group and internationalization projects at his side.

Lang began his agency career with the APA Chronicle department for more than 30 years, led the department for three years in the mid-1990s, and took the position of deputy editor in 1997. Simultaneously with the pbadage of APA in the Newsroom that he had designed at Viennese Naschmarkt (2005), he was appointed editor-in-chief. Four years later, the specialized magazine "The Austrian journalist" elected him "editor in chief of the year".

The most senior editor-in-chief of the European news agency group has made himself known in addition to his tireless efforts for the independence of the report, notably through numerous innovation projects and by the editorial transformation into a state-of-the-art journalistic service provider in Austria. The networking of the press room with all the areas and subsidiaries of APA, which he has advanced, continues to serve as a model for the change processes of many media companies in Germany and abroad.

As of 1 January 2019, the APA Editorial Board will be composed of Johannes Bruckenberger, Katharina Schell and Werner Müllner. The management will propose the appointment of Johannes Bruckenberger as the new editor of the APA at committee meetings on December 11th.
