A work accident at the Vienna airport requires several serious injuries

A serious accident at work occurred today at Vienna Schwechat International Airport. Parts of a scaffold at Pier East collapsed during the work. According to eyewitness reports available at Austrian Wings, three of the on-site workers dropped ten meters into the depths.

In a very short time, the airport ANNA and airport firefighters were on hand and began providing first aid to the wounded. Subsequently, an emergency ambulance (NEF), an emergency transport car (RTW) from an outside aid organization as well as the two emergency helicopters Christophorus 3 and Christophorus 9 were alerted.

The workers – they do not belong to the airport staff but work for outside companies – were transported to various hospitals by helicopter or under emergency medical badistance.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
