Modern vehicles often have onboard emergency badistants. Such a 56-year-old Arizona motorist could have benefited from it. She was saved after almost a week because no one had heard of her accident.

After a serious car accident in the US state of Arizona, the injured driver had to endure six days until her rescue. Aged 53, he was eventually discovered by chance and driven to the hospital, as announced by the desert state police in the southwestern United States.

The woman was traveling in mid-October near the town of Wickenburg on the main road 60, when she lost control of her car. The vehicle crossed the guardrail, collapsed on a slope of more than 15 meters and landed on a tree blocked by the car.

"Apparently, there were no witnesses and the woman was discovered by the authorities six days later," police said. The driver of the car owes her greetings to a coincidence: the road maintenance staff and a farmer wanted to catch a cow in the area when they learned that the railing was damaged. When they saw the injured vehicle hanging in the tree, they alerted the police.

The car was empty – but rescuers found footprints. The alarmed police officer and a road maintenance officer followed in the tracks and found the driver at nearly 500 meters from his car. The injured and dehydrated woman was taken by helicopter to a clinic. The 53-year-old said he stayed in the car for several days. She then tried to reach the nearby railroad tracks, but collapsed on the way.
