Atlanta / Washington. In the United States, a packet sent to CNN has been detected again, which could be a trapped letter. It was intercepted in Atlanta, announced Monday the station. On the same day, a man detained for the series of letter bombs was to appear for the first time in a federal court in Miami.
He was arrested Friday near Miami, Florida. The reason was suspected of having sent at least 14 trapped letters to CNN and the critics of Republican President Donald Trump. Recipients included former Democratic President Barack Obama and actor Robert De Niro. So far, 15 suspicious items have been discovered, including the new package.
CNN chief Jeff Zucker said via Twitter that the package had been discovered at a post office. There is no immediate danger. Since Wednesday, every letter from the station is checked outside the building. The New York Time Warner Center, home to CNN's New York office, was released Wednesday after the delivery of a suspicious package.
Until now, no one has been hurt by homemade bombs. Friday, the FBI Federal Police had said that it was still possible to send more letters trapped. A few days before the November 6 legislative elections, critics accuse Trump of inciting hatred.
The 56-year-old suspect is registered as a Republican and thundered in social media against Democrats, Muslims and Liberals. The case was to be transferred to New York, where prosecutors should file a complaint.
