This stems from the amendment to a regulation on automated driving that has just been sent to an expert.

Parking without sitting in the car
The parking aid must be able to automatically handle all the driving tasks transferred when parking inside and outside the vehicles, as underlined by the legal text provided. "As long as the system is activated, the driver is released from the obligation to sit in his seat and keep the steering device with at least one hand while driving." However, the handlebar must be "in view of the vehicle" and can intervene in case of emergency. This type of parking aid is only allowed for pbadenger cars (clbad M1). Such systems currently offer u.a. BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Hyundai. Here, the parking process is started or monitored with the car key (BMW – see video) or via a smartphone application.

Freeway driver without hand on the steering wheel
Autopilot innovations are referred to in the regulation as "a system capable of providing longitudinal vehicle guidance, such as acceleration, braking, stopping, remote control, as well as transversal guidance. of the vehicle for pursuit by means of the automatic steering function "on the motorway. As long as the driving aid is activated, "the driver is released from the obligation to hold the steering device with at least one hand while driving".

Relief for driving tests
The project also reduces from three months to one month the time within which a governor may express concerns about a road test on the rough road network. This should be facilitated by the Ministry of Transport to conduct driving tests. The evaluation period runs until December 6.
