The number of complaints of badual harbadment at work is increasing dramatically.

More than half of women report badual harbadment in their workplace. This culminated in a special evaluation of the 2018 working climate index by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor. At a press conference in Vienna, Johann Kalliauer, president of AK-OÖ, called for heavier sentences and a reversal of the burden of proof, increased protection of dismissals for affected women and a greater commitment of the bosses.

The fact that the problem has become widespread is illustrated by the number of 800 to 1,000 relevant counseling sessions held each year by the AK in Upper Austria, said Kalliauer. The best protection would be: "Leaders should not look away, but should make it clear that this is not tolerated in the company." Employers should exercise their duty of care more than before.

Specifically, nearly four out of ten women reported offensive remarks, such as badist jokes in their work environment, said Eva Zeglovits of the Institute for Empirical Social Research of IFES, a slight increase by compared to 2016. For this reason, a significant proportion of women are engaged in housework and children almost alone: ​​"Half a half" is experienced only in about a fifth of households – say working women – or about a quarter – say men – reported Christoph Hofinger of the SORA Institute (Institute for Social Research and Analysis). Nevertheless, employee motivation is above average, Kalliauer said. Career choice care is becoming less of an issue, especially because of the shortage of hospitalized people, mobile care and low-income people.
