A 44-year-old Briton was struck by lightning and injured during a mountain hike in Eben am Achensee (Schwaz District) on Thursday. According to the police, the man had fallen into a storm on the descent of the Seebergspitze. He was thrown from the ridge and came to bed about five feet down in a pine field.

The Briton was finally rescued from the emergency helicopter. Then he was transported to Schwaz for further care at the hospital.

Previously, the 44-year-old man was working on his own with a cell phone. Because of the storm front, the ambulance helicopter was initially only able to sell a rescuer in the wounded. As the weather did not improve, six men from the Maurach rescue team were transported by police helicopter to support the summit area.
