Montreal / Washington (APA / AFP) – The Canadian retail giant, Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), banned the purchase of American presidential girl Ivanka Trump's clothes in his stores. The company "is gradually eliminating the brand in the fall because of its performance," HBC said. The measure was part of a regular review of the product offering, he said.
In addition to its Canadian stores, HBC owns other commercial companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor. In Germany, the company bought the department store Kaufhof in 2015.
By February 2017, the American fashion chain Nordstrom had already removed the collection of Ivanka Trump from its range. The reason given was the weakness of sales following a call for boycotts for Trump family member stores. Other department stores have followed.
Ivanka Trump is the eldest daughter of US President Donald Trump and works as a counselor in the White House. His father provoked a scandal in Canada when he called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "very dishonest and weak" after the G-7 summit in June.
