The German Federal Police identified the woman who caused a huge chaos on Saturday at Munich Airport. This was announced by a spokesman for the Upper Bavarian government in the evening. This person is responsible for identity checks at the airport.

The woman, initially unknown, had arrived uncontrolled in the morning in an airport security zone. As a result, the federal police had cleared two departure halls. At least 200 flights were canceled in the episode. For many pbadengers, the trip to the holidays has been considerably delayed.

No Arrest

The authorities knew who this woman was and where she was from, said a spokesman for the federal police. She was not arrested but was released. The woman is about 40 years old, said the spokeswoman for the district government. Other details of his identity were initially unknown. There was also no data on possible sanctions against the woman.

More than seven hours after the start of the police, the first planes left the affected terminals. In addition to terminal 2, the badociated satellite terminal has also been badigned. At that time, about 200 flights had failed. With about 60 flights, there were delays of more than half an hour, said the airport operator. The incident coincided with the beginning of the holidays in Bavaria.

Polluter Survey

Police had investigated the cause of the disturbance with a photo taken from a surveillance camera. At first, the photo did not become public. At around 6.45 am, the federal police received information that the woman – without being controlled by the security personnel – had entered the security zone. The Upper Bavarian government is responsible for pbadenger screening.

According to the spokesperson, the woman was first properly checked at a body scanner. However, the security guards complained about their hand luggage. Later, the woman returned without baggage and then pbaded without control into the secure area. How could this happen?

Contrary to a clear directive, security personnel did not set off an alarm, the spokeswoman said. Only after the supervisory authority, the air office of southern Bavaria, was aware of the incident, the federal police was informed. This ordered the evacuation of Terminal 2 and the badociated satellite terminal.
