Belgrade / Srebrenica. Victims of mbad killings are still buried in Bosnia Srebrenica. Twenty-three years after the genocide of more than 7,000 Muslims committed by Bosnian Serb troops in the former UN protection zone, the remains of 35 victims were buried Wednesday at the memorial cemetery of Potočari . Until now, there are 6575 identified victims with DNA comparisons. More than 1,000 people are still missing.
General Ratko Mladić and former Serbian leader Radovan Karadžić have now condemned the main perpetrators of this horrific war crime. But a reconciliation on the graves can be done in the multiethnic state torn apart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, even less than a quarter of a century after the end of the Bosnian war (1992-1995). On the contrary, as every year, Remembrance Day is overshadowed by compensation and tension.
Politicians and victims of Bosnian Muslims accuse the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and the state of Serbia of wanting to relativize the genocide of Srebrenica. Belgrade and Banja Luka still claim that Sarajevo and the West are the only guilty party of the Bosnian Serbs.
Munira Subašić of the organization of victims "The Mothers of Srebrenica" announced that the German judicial system would have a list of 22,000 names. Bosnian Serbs allegedly involved in the genocide.
