Deadly accident in the forest: the father (66 years old) died in the eyes of his sons

SCHAR PIERRE. A 66-year-old man was fatally wounded by a four-meter tree limb during a forest activity at approximately 08:40 in Scharnstein (Gmunden District).

Aged 66, from the district of Gmunden, accompanied by his two sons and an acquaintance of 78 years, he was repairing the damage done to the forest by the Föhnsturm in recent days. While the two sons were busy cutting down damaged trees, the two older men laid bare materials already cut or torn by the storm in the direction of the forest road.

In order to pull a very tall spruce tree from the forest, the tragic accident occurred. The conifer is imposed at a height of about eight meters at the fork of a maple. This one was demolished by the tension of the tied rope, was routed until 66 years old and tore it.

The first aid of his sons failed. The man suffered a fracture of the upper cervical spine in the accident. He died at the accident site.
