I think we are in agreement that relations between Russia and the United States are as bad as they have been for a long time. The United States imposed stiff sanctions on Moscow following the invasion of Crimea by Russia. Given this context, we see the importance of a direct dialogue between the presidents of both countries. I am convinced that such a dialogue is not only in the interest of Americans, but also in the interest of Europe. Especially in Austria, I always hear the desire for better relations with Russia. I think many people in Austria are very happy that there is an attempt to improve relations between Russia and the United States. After all, Vienna is also working hard to maintain good relations with Moscow. There are many important issues to discuss between the US President and the Russian President: think of the Syrian conflict or the issue of cybersecurity. All parties should be interested in the constructive dialogue between Trump and Putin.
