The number of wolf attacks on farm animals in Upper Austria is increasing. Now confirmed a DNA test, which was in the region around Weitersfelden as certainty. It is a wolf that lost five sheep in Weitersfelden (Freistadt district) on June 30th.

The three hectares of willow on which the wolf struck are in the immediate vicinity of a farm Apparently, Wolf seems not to be discouraged by shy wolves.

Even with two sheep that were killed at Weyer (Steyr-Land district) at the end of May, a wolf was declared dead

at the Veterinary University of Vienna. There, they were examined for wolf tracks. Since yesterday, the results are available. "Now we are certain that it was a wolf," says Wolf commissioner and wildlife biologist, Georg Rauer. While there is now clarity in the dead sheep at Weitersfelden, the wolf is suspected of two other attacks as a belt. In the community of Freistend Liebenau, a calf was killed on 8 June. A few days later, a pregnant sheep was so badly injured at Unterweienbach that he had to be shot. The "Ruber" had jumped over an electric fence one meter high from one bound. Several farmers in the area have announced that they would lock their sheep in the barn overnight after the incident.

Samples of these two recent attacks are still under investigation. The results are expected in the coming weeks
