A 49-year-old man was fatally injured during a night fire Tuesday in Graz, two other people also had to go to the hospital. According to the police, the fire broke out on the second floor of a three-story residential building in the Eggenberg district. After another fire in the Lend district, a 73-year-old man was brought to the hospital with suspicion of smoke intoxication
The fire of Eggenberg had erupted shortly before 23 hours in the apartment of a 36-year-old man. When a police patrol arrived nearby, flames were already blazing from several windows in the second-floor apartment, the National Police Directorate said on Tuesday. The agents immediately started evacuating the house but could not reach the upper floor because of mbadive smoke.
When the rescue and rescue teams of the Graz fire brigade, equipped with powerful respiratory protection, started fighting fires, they found the 49-year-old woman motionless in the cage stairs on the third floor. She was resuscitated outside and taken to LKH Graz. Their health was critical.
Another woman, who made herself felt through a third-floor window, was escorted safely by an aerial ladder. The 36-year-old man was able to save himself from his apartment. He and another resident were injured and taken to LKH Graz.
The apartment burned down completely
The flames were extinguished after about 15 minutes, but the 36-year-old house burned down completely. The amount of undisclosed material damage on Tuesday was described by the police as "huge". The Landeskriminalamt Styria resumed the investigation.
