Krems. The Südtirolerplatz will be transformed into an open-air concert hall on 24 and 25 May 2019. At the first "Kremser Musik Frühling", Hansi Hinterseer and Wolfgang Ambros are on stage. The organizer is the new shopping center "Kaffa & Kommi" (formerly Steiner Tor).

Othmar Seidl plans to use Südtirolerplatz for other purposes for several years. Now, the shopping center and the owner of Hofbräu want to show, during two concerts, "the place is beautiful". On May 24 and 25, the area in front of the Steiner Tor will be transformed into a concert arena. Seidl managed to win two big Austrian stars for the first "Krems Music Spring": the legend of Austropop Wolfgang Ambros and the hit star Hansi Hinterseer. Ambros will do the kickoff Friday, followed by Hinterseer on Saturday night.

3800 seats per concert

According to Seidl, the artists play with a view of the Steiner Tor. There can be up to 3,800 spectators per concert, with only standing places. For Sunday, Seidl still has the desire for a free concert place with a fanfare.

Small labels needed

For the concerts, the traffic must be redirected for a few hours and some streetlights must be dismantled, but Seidl sees "no major obstacle" on the Südtirolerplatz. The place is predestined to play there once a year. His thanks go to the authorities who have already "given the green light in almost all areas for both concerts".

Idea from Tyrol

The idea of open air in Kitzbühel, the home of Hansi Hinterseer, where Othmar Seidl works on a large hotel project, was born. Seidl and Hinterseer knew each other there and, according to the singer, "understood coffee better than coffee". Finally, Hinterseer immediately agreed to give a concert in Krems. A little later, Wolfgang Ambros, who also lives in Tyrol, was hired.

The stars of Wachau are delighted

With a helicopter, the two artists were reunited by the Tyrol to go to the press conference in Krems. The singers were particularly excited about flying over the Wachau. "I wanted to have a parachute with me," Hinterseer said. For the star of the film, Open Air is the first appearance in Krems. Ambros has already been heard several times in the city. And for "culinary reasons", it would in any case often be hosted privately in the Wachau.

Landesgalerie opens at the same time

However, the Spring Open Air will not be the only milestone event of the last weekend of May of next year. The grand opening of the new Landesgalerie in Stein will take place on May 25th and 26th. Outdoor organizers are committed to using synergy effects here. Othmar Seidl is convinced that "the city will benefit".
