Grünau: Strong wind prevented rescue by helicopter

A 25 year old man from Regensburg In the afternoon of 7 July 2018, she and three other acquaintances visited the via ferrata Tbadilo, Difficulty C / D, in the municipality of Grünau, from the Welser Hütte towards Schermberg.

At an altitude of about 2100 Meter wanted to shoot the climber on a small ascent on a small, difficult place (according to their own specifications Difficulty B), and in doing so, the shoulder off. A higher and a descent were no longer possible. Since no mobile phone network is available in this area, climbers have attempted to call climbers on the normal route to reach the Welser Hut. A mountaineer from Vienna heard the calls and was finally able to call the mountain rescue emergency call 140 from the landline phone of the Welser Hütte. The rescue attempt by the Einsatzmannschaft of the emergency helicopter doctor Martin 3 had to be interrupted because of the strong wind. The air rescue rescued the victim and several mountain rescuers from the Ortsstelle Grünau were transported by Notarzthubschrauber on the mountain, the 25-year-old climbed or descended, those provided and abseilten to a sheltered place. There, the climber was taken in charge by the emergency helicopter and taken to the Klinikum Salzkammergut Gmunden
