On the morning of 22 October 2018, a 36-year-old woman from East Tyrol filed a notice of absence, according to which her mother (a 58-year-old woman from Lienz) was not came to work today. According to the 36-year-old, his mother would have hiked from Heiligenblut to Kals this weekend.

The police inspection of Lienz on the LKA Tirol was carried out by hand on 22.10.2018, in the morning, at the Pockhorn Transmission Center No. 2 in Heiligenblut.

On the basis of the results of the stage, a search operation was immediately organized among the 19 volunteers of the mountain rescue Heiligenblut with 5 mountain rescue search dogs Carinthia and 2 alpine officers of AEG Spittal on the Drau, as well as the FESt Klagenfurt police helicopter. At 14:20, the 58-year-old woman was found dead by a mountain biker in the so-called "Haritzer Steig" located under the wall of grbad (altitude 1,520 m) in Heiligenblut. The corpse was recovered by a rope from the police helicopter.

Investigations carried out on site by the Alpinpolizei and coronary examinations of the criminal police carried out have revealed no evidence of third party debt. Additional investigations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
