Shortly before the expected arrival of Hurricane Willa, Mexican authorities called on residents of the affected areas of the Pacific Rim to get in safety. Emergency shelters have been set up and ports, schools and beaches are closed.

The meteorological service has warned that waves several meters high, waterfalls, power outages and construction damage are to be feared when the "Willa" may land on Tuesday near the station Mazatlan. The storm would then probably be a category three or four hurricane on a five-level Saffir-Simpson scale.

In the meantime, "Willa" was even clbadified in category five, while the storm on the sea went to Mexico. During the day, it has weakened but is a little off.

The "Willa" could have "catastrophic" consequences, warned Monday the American center of the hurricanes (NHC). Even though the hurricane is likely to lose its strength on Tuesday, it will remain a hurricane "extremely dangerous" when it will reach the Mexican coast.
