Injured by an explosion in Rangersdorf

On 21 April 2019, around noon, a 56-year-old man from the district of Spittal an der Drau was seriously injured while working in a water cistern in the garden of his house in Rangersdorf.

The cistern, consisting of a concrete base plate with concrete rings, was flowing in his garden.
He wanted to renovate it. For this, he pierced the lower plate several times over the past few days. He tried to seal the soil and existing cracks on the side walls with a foam fountain. After this work, he closed the tank, the last time yesterday, with the concrete cover.
When he was on 21.04. In the tank rose to remove the excess foam, there was an explosion.
Presumably, gases had escaped from the foam. So, it was an explosion with hot flames
The man could still climb independently on a ladder of the tank and inform his partner.
He was then a victim of major burns to the upper body of the C7 rescue helicopter from the University of Innsbruck.
