Iranian President Hbadan Rouhani meets this morning in Vienna, among others, the President of the Confederation Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP). The issues should be the international nuclear agreement with Iran and economic cooperation. However, the diplomatic scandal surrounding an Iranian minister of the embbady risks to be at the top of the list.
Vienna wants to deprive an Iranian diplomat of diplomatic status because he is supposed to be involved in attacks on a rally of Iranian exiles in Paris. Due to terrorist plans, two suspects were arrested in Belgium, the prosecution said in Brussels. In addition, a possible accomplice was set up in France and an Iranian diplomat in Germany
Protest against the visit
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NRWI) requested the cancellation of the tour rouhani because of the accusations against the Iranian diplomat, Protests against Rouhani had been announced even before the plans were known.
Rouhani's visit is accompanied by extensive security measures – and also demonstrations. 950 police officers are on duty. Around the Heroes' Square, there is a forbidden zone.
