DÜSSELDORF (GERMANY): An expert in the reptiles of the Düsseldorf Fire Services supported the Federal Police officials on October 27, 2018 at the main train station in Dusseldorf during a curious discovery of an artgeschützten Würgeschlange.
A 36-year-old man ran around the station with a six-foot-eight boa constrictor around his neck, after which he was taken to the station for the first time. According to the firefighters' expert, the animal could be quickly identified, picked up and fed over the weekend in an attitude suited to the species.
Travelers to Düsseldorf Central Station were astonished when on Saturday afternoon a 36-year-old man ran around the building around his neck with a long eight-foot-long choke. Shortly after, the federal police was able to arrest the alleged owner of the animal and brought him to the clarification of the custody of the facts at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz.
To further support the handling, identification and welfare of the animal, officials asked a reptile expert from the Düsseldorf Fire Department. Soon, the animal could be identified as a non-native boa constrictor. However, since the owner could not provide proof of ownership and the public's use should not be understood as an attitude proper to the case, the snake had to be taken by a specialized fire department. It will be sent on Sunday to the Brüggen Nature and Animal Park. Until then, it will be sheltered in a warm place by the firemen.
The Würgeschlange from South America must then undergo a medical examination, since a disease can not be excluded without a doubt. However, this can only happen during the next few days in the snake-themed animal park. The fire department informed the Lower Land Authority responsible for this case – the gardens, cemeteries and forests offices – about the discovery of the snake.
After nearly 45 minutes, support was completed to the federal police.
