Martin Gruber is the new chairman of the state party of ÖVP Kärnten. Aged 35, he was elected last night at the Congress of the ÖVP in Velden am Wörthersee with 301 votes out of 306, an approval of 98.37%. Katja Morgenstern, Ronny Rull, Alfred Altersberger and the Minister of Agriculture, Elisabeth Köstinger, were elected to represent Gruber.

Prior to his election to ÖVP-Carinthia, President Gruber had announced that he would expand his party in Carinthia and wished to become governor. The Federal President of the ÖVP and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who in Carinthia ÖVP, now has the same "starting mood" that this project was approved, as was the case just before the election of the National Council at the federal level.

The subject of the congress was the current storm in Carinthia. "Despite the sensational result of the ÖVP family, there is no reason to celebrate today," Gruber announced on a program. On the contrary, "we have before us the images of the devastation that has spread to vast areas of Carinthia," said Gruber, who wished, along with Minister Kurz and Agriculture, Köstinger go to the affected areas immediately after the convention.
