From mid-August, a new working group is looking for a solution for the construction of the new management center of Innsbruck, MCI. Due to the cost explosion had, as indicated, the previous construction project to stop.

Intensity looking for a new construction solution for the MCI, said the competent State Councilor Johannes Tratter of the ÖVP in a statement. A new working group, responsible for this project, will be formed by mid-August and will then carry out the necessary construction work. Technical and legal representatives from the state and the city of Innsbruck will be integrated into the working group, as well as external legal and construction consultants.

Explosion of project costs

A new construction of the MCI was already planned. but when suddenly it will cost 135 million euros instead of the expected 80 million euros, the country stopped the project last week – more about it in the new MCI building is about to end. Nevertheless, with new plans, the new building of MCI should be made, the project is important for the Tyrol as a scientific and commercial place, says Tratter

Criticism of the SPÖ

The Tyrol SPÖ strongly criticizes the cost explosion of the planned new MCI building. The budget was set in 2015, without thinking about value adjustments or rising construction costs in the coming years. That should not happen, explained Elisabeth Blanik, president of the Tyrolean SPÖ. It requires project management in the country house, so that large projects in the future accompanied professionally and such mistakes are avoided.
