A 26-year-old from the Braunau district am Inn drove on July 26, 2018 at around 2:15 pm in his car on the B1 motorway, Wiener Straße towards Straßwalchen. In the municipality of Pöndorf, at the intersection of the B1 with the L1282 national road, Pöndorfer Straße, he pbaded in front of a coach train turning on the left. Immediately after the intersection, he probably slowed his vehicle for unknown reasons. A 37-year-old pilot from Vöcklabruck District should have noticed him too late and could not prevent a collision despite full braking. The 26-year-old athlete's car was projected by the force of the impact on its own axis and stopped on the opposite lane. The drivers of both vehicles were injured to an undetermined degree and taken to the Vöcklabruck hospital with the rescue. The 37-year-old co-driver was also admitted to the Vöcklabruck hospital with serious injuries from the Martin 3 ambulance helicopter. The B1 was totally stuck for about an hour, a local detour to was established by the Pöndorf Fire Department
