Leichtfried (SPÖ) finds the law unconstitutional

The decision adopted by the National Council, which authorizes "preparatory acts" for the reform of health insurance before the entry into force of the basic laws, continues to cause a sensation. Like NEOS, the SPÖ also calls on Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen not to sign the law. Both opposition parties consider this unconstitutional.
Deputy head of the SPÖ club, Jörg Leichtfried, and Constitution spokesperson Peter Wittmann, ask Van der Bellen to conduct a formal and substantive examination of the law. A refusal to sign by the federal president would be the last option, so the law can not come into force. The same request had already been made Sunday at NEOS to the Federal President.
If the regulation came into force anyway, it would bring the SPÖ to the Constitutional Court, said the two deputies of the SPÖ in a statement to the APA. This would be possible with a request from a third of the Bundesrat, where the provision still needs to be addressed.
