On Friday morning, SPÖ Vorarlberg was invited to present the candidates for the 2019 European elections. VOL.AT was live.

The SPÖ Federal Executive Committee nominated the candidates for the European elections. There are also two candidates from Vorarlberg: Nathaniel Heinritz from Feldkirch and Patricia Zangerl from Hohenweiler. One expects them to run to places 11 and 20.

Nathaniel Heinritz and Patricia Zangerl are alive. Through their professional activities, they bring a lot of specialized knowledge. This knowledge is a considerable enrichment, especially for the social democratic goal of a social union.

Notably because of their daily work experience, they are convinced that in important areas of our society, pan-European solutions are now completely impossible.

For a European social union

Nathaniel Heinritz (30) lives in Feldkirch and works as a lawyer at AK Vorarlberg. He is also vice-president of the younger generation of SPÖ Vorarlberg. He will be a candidate for 10th place on the list of electors. It calls the EU's big issues tax evasion of big business, the fight against wage and social dumping and climate change.

Alone through tax evasion, EU countries have avoided about 60 billion euros annually. This sum is so huge that EU states avoid about 20% of the tax revenues of their businesses.[1] This money could be used to carry out important projects necessary for the constitution of a social union.

The elimination of wage and social dumping is another constituent element. According to ÖGB, wage and social dumping is already practiced in about half of the cross-border detachments. The European Commission even proposed a solution to this problem: a European labor agency that would sanction such incidents. The current situation is intolerable and unfair competition is detrimental to the workers. For Nathaniel Heinritz, one thing is clear: here, all the levers must be set in motion.
