A 15-year-old boy from Weiz District, located in eastern Styria, was hit and killed by a tree on his head during a logging operation on Wednesday. This was reported by the National Police Directorate. The teenager had been involved in forestry work with his brother (16) and his father (55). Rescuers had always resuscitated but without success.
The family was working around 1:50 pm in a forest in Lammerriegel, in the municipality of Pbadail. The 16-year-old cut a spruce with an electric saw. His father and brother stood a few feet away. The fall of the trunk touched another tree already lying, which then jumped and hit the head of the 15-year-old girl.
