Internationally active footwear manufacturer Legero leaves its former seat in Graz. The new "uni campus of Legero" will be built in Feldkirchen. Sales should also double and the number of employees increase.

The construction of the new headquarters in southern Graz started a week ago – in January 2020, the first of two phases of expansion will be completed. This provides space for about 350 employees. The new headquarters will also add up to 200 employees later.

Legero wants to "grow up"

Legero plans to triple his workforce by 2023: instead of the current 1,100 employees, about 3,500 people will work for the shoe manufacturer. Sales should also double over the same period. "Not only our collections, but we continue to grow," says director Stefan Stolitzka. In addition to the "Shoemakers outlet", the new factory also includes offices and a corporate restaurant.

About 30 million euros would be invested in the project, confirmed the management. An additional 20 million euros will be injected into production processes and new technologies over the next two years, and digitization will also bring about major changes within the company over the next few years. In addition, he wants to continue to develop biodegradable and pollution-free footwear in the future, according to management.

Legero was founded in 1872 and has two production sites in Austria, Hungary, Romania and India. Legero shoes are made by Legero, Superfit, Think! and Vios shoes sold in 40 countries – about six million shoes were sold in 2017.
