The fourth dimension of cinema

Pasching. Stay seated and let yourself splash – it's the end of today's day in Hall 6 of the Hollywood megaplex of the PlusCity in Pasching.

The seats, grouped into groups of four, lift, rock and swing in all directions, wave the visitors or vibrate gently under their seated meat. But that's not all, even the time is in the movies. Windstorms swirl around the hair, water is sprayed on your face and it blinks like a summer storm.

"This offer brings fun to the cinema with all your senses," said Mario Hueber, general manager of the Hollywood Megaplex. "4DX multiplies the experiences of different kinds of films." In addition to the fragrances already mentioned, there are different fragrances, ranging from the hot gum to the smell of coffee. In short, the sound-image combination is extended by a physical component, the fourth dimension, so to speak.

million of investment

"After the extremely positive experience of Vienna, we decided to invest in this area." About 1.3 million euros were collected for the only second 4DX cinema in Austria. The room can accommodate 140 visitors. "It's the next level after IMAX and 3D," says Hueber. In the background, 4DX professionals from Los Angeles, Beijing and Seoul are responsible for optimizing the effects for the film's scenes. They interact directly with producers and directors of movie studios.

The first films presented with this new technology are "Operation: Overlord" and "Fantastic Beasts 2: Crime of Grindelwald". Important for visitors: Entrance to the lobby is allowed only from one meter. Young children need the company of an adult. In addition, it is not recommended to wear delicate clothing or cups containing more than 0.75 milliliters. Dissuasive for some? "Of course, there are people who say, I do not need that," says Hueber. "That's why the target group is well defined."

An extra charge of six euros is required for the ticket, which can cost around 20 euros for a visit to the cinema. "Because something is offered, which you do not get at home," Hueber is convinced. (Purple)
