A musical journey in time from 1918 to the present day is organized by the Linz Music School on Friday 23 November. 500 students from the Linz Music School, the Music Symphony Orchestra and the United Voices Choir offer an introduction to the Austrian musical landscape at the Brucknerhaus. The motto: 100 years old, it's a day. The reason for this great event is the foundation of the Republic 100 years ago. Former Federal President Heinz Fischer will also be present. "It's an extraordinary program, which has been set up here," said city councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer.
Something for everyone
The program itself is diverse. 15 hours of music are spread over two days. On 22 November already, there will be a "dress rehearsal" for families and friends at 4.30 pm in the big hall of the Brucknerhaus. "It's a childish way of saying what adults expect the next day," said Christian Denkmaier, director of the School of Music. The same is Friday from 9:30 for elementary schools. "Immediately after, children have the opportunity to better know the instruments and the Brucknerhaus in four creative stations and at a singing school concert," says Denkmaier.
In the afternoon, it will continue from 16h to 19h in the "Musikalische Melange". In the middle room and at the Bruckner café, 20 groups and ensembles will perform various works, bar music as well as songs from Austrian cabaret legends and operetta highlights from the last 100 years. And all with free admission. "We are trying to tell a musical story, knowing that 1918 is not the beginning of the history of Austrian music," says the director of the music school. The highlight of the day is the performance of "The Sounds of Austria" from 19:30. The Music School Symphony Orchestra and "United Voices" perform works by Falco, Arnold Schönberg, Joe Zawinul and many other Austrians.
Marianne Mendt, co-founder of Austropops, was also present. There are still some cards left. "It's like a walk in the history of music, and every work presented has a very special story, which is told for the first time on the night of the show," Denkmaier said. With the "Late Night Party" starting at 21:30, the event ends. "It will be a very exciting night," Denkmaier said. (MIB)
