Mae Sai (dpa) – After 17 days in a dark cave, the twelve players of a Thai football team and their coach are all saved. This was announced by the Thai Navy on Tuesday.

The last four trapped children were released by divers specializing in a high-risk mission for hours. Then the 25-year-old caregiver also came out.

The happy end of the cave drama is a miracle for many. Even the experts had hardly thought that the football club team "wild boars" from his refuge four kilometers deep can be safely brought to the outside. The return to the light took several hours each. Large parts of the cave have been flooded. None of the children had diving experience. The boys were therefore caught by the professionals in towing.

The last of a total of three highly dangerous missions had started Tuesday at 10:08 local time (05:08 CEST). Before, it had rained a lot all night.

The first two dives, Sunday and Monday, had already saved eight boys, each in teams of four. They do comparatively well. But you should stay in the hospital at least a week longer.

More than two weeks ago, the young football team was trapped in a cave in Thailand . Important events in the case:
