On birthdays, tingling usually occurs after a series of boring speeches. The Linz Theater Phoenix records this procedure and celebrates its 30th anniversary in the 2019/20 season with four world premieres, many returnees and dramatic memorabilia. Harald Gebhartl – the artistic director of Phönix, co-founder and new sponsor of the country's stage prize – shows the rhythm on 19 September with a crazy version of the musical "Blues Brothers": after their expulsion from Trumps USA, the warriors play against the popular Trara in Austria. From November 28, Gebhartl's founding partner Georg Schmiedleitner will be staging a performance by Friedrich Schiller ("Schiller – Times of Turmoil"). The project predicts a stormy and impulsive energy that will revive the fire of major projects Phoenix Schiller (including the staging "Raider" of 1996).
Thomas Baum is the phoenix dramatist of the first hour. To celebrate Linz's jubilee, "The Odilon Affair", which retraces from February 6, traces the intrigue of drugs and madness around the old Burgtheater star Alexander Girardi before the end of the First World War, also with the help of advocates of racial hygiene. On the basis of the Phenix year title, Helmut Köpping organized from 9 April "1989 – Casting Tibor Foco" murderers convicted of murder since 1987 and fugitives since 1995, as well as all speculation and suspicions of this criminal case. Starting May 5, the dramatized version of the fragment of 1939 novel "A party is dead" murdered by Nazi writer Jura Soyfer directed by Christine Eder will be the last preview of the season.
With Peter Turrini's "Rozznjogd" in 1989, the ascent of Phoenix to one of the most important middle floors of Austria began. From February 28, this landmark piece in the history of theater will be celebrated in the cast of the time – Ferry Öllinger / Ingrid Höller. During the current season, the Phoenix has recorded outstanding collaborations ("Schauwerk", an improvisation troupe "Treibgut Family", "U20 Slamstaz Linz", Association ADA – Alternative Solidarity, etc.) and 18,680 visitors.
