ree short message service Twitter has removed more than 10,000 fake accounts calling for a boycott of the upcoming congressional elections in the United States. A spokesman for the company confirmed Friday to Reuters that the accounts had been canceled in late September and early October.
The accounts wrongly gave the appearance of Democrats. The Bloomberg news agency, citing an anonymous source, reported that the accounts had been opened in America.
In the run-up to the 2016 presidential elections, Twitter closed millions of accounts about which misinformation had been leaked, especially regarding Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
