A 62-year-old German hiker died Saturday in an accident in the Steinplatte area of Waidring (Kitzbühel district). The man was traveling with his wife on a marked hiking trail while he was stumbling on a stone stairway. As a result, the 62-year-old man crashed over 30 meters on steep and partially rocky terrain. Any help came too late for him.
The couple left at 2:20 pm for Grünwaldalm / Stallenalm when the man lost balance. He could not be recovered dead, the corpse was transported with the police helicopter into the valley. The shocked wife was taken care of by the emergency helicopter and supervised by the crisis intervention team.
