In a statement, the union said: "Speaking in advance of a substantially improved offer, who makes fun of any description and that is a joke." The union has criticized attempts at intimidation and sees it as a consequence of the change of government. "This has become really possible in this country," Hebenstreit said in a press release issued by Vida.

There are no appointments for a tenth round of negotiations. Following the cancellation of the negotiations, both parties announced the convening of the internal consultation bodies. On the side of the vida, this will happen within 48 hours, so Hebenstreit. The union leader has not ruled out new strike actions: "The next step after the strike on warning is the strike, but we have not reached this stage yet." Scheiber said that they would try again "what trading margin we have". "When that happens, there will be more discussions."

Strike measures "we must accept"

"I must regretfully note that the strike action is unstoppable," said chief employer negotiator Thomas Scheiber shortly before the strike in front of the media. "Contrary to expectations, we have not managed to reach a proper agreement with the union in time," Scheiber said. The ninth round of negotiations began at 10:00 am, just two hours before the planned start of the strike. "We must accept that the strike is triggered in standing contract negotiations," Scheiber said.

670 trains stop

According to ÖBB, there are 670 trains all over Austria, including 70 in long distance traffic. The ÖBB customer service staff has a lot to do in terms of customer service. We ask to understand not to be able to answer all requests immediately.

Dear community!

We currently have only 2 people in digital customer service and we do our best to answer all your requests as soon as possible. We ask for your understanding, we tap as fast as possible! ❤️

For Andreas Matthä, president of the ÖBB, it is "an intolerable condition that, despite offers, obviously can not approach the Chamber of Commerce and the union" and "I can not understand that for offers of strike". The victims are the pbadengers. Daniela Holzinger, social spokesperson for Now (formerly LP), said he understood the railway strike: "Wage increases do not happen themselves, they have to be fought."

The private sector employees' union, pressure, journalism and paper (GPA-djp) also provided support. President Barbara Teiber: "We express our total solidarity with the railway workers on strike, no one is on strike for the strike, the employees got a fair and good salary increase, and a good graduation is another step. on the path of justice by sector. Hofer: Hebenstreit plays rugby on a football field

Transport Minister Norbert Hofer (FPÖ) said he did not understand why no agreement had been reached. He would like to sit down at the bargaining table himself, he said, but agreement is possible. The offer was very good in his eyes, for officials higher than the officials-KV and for the others "towards the end of Metaller". The ÖBB alone would cost 80 million euros at this level. "The only minister who has a reason to go on strike is the finance minister," said Hofer. He feels that Hebenstreit is on a football field but plays rugby. The customers of the rail, as a result of the litigation would be unloaded, would have little joy.

Railway strike: "The fronts are hardened"

Other strikes could follow. The ORF journalist Johannes Schwitzer-Fürnsinn presents a report from the Vienna Economic Chamber on hardened fronts.

FPÖ spokesman Christian Hafenecker also said the strike was motivated by political reasons: "As the last defibrillator of a SPÖ tear", it is probably necessary to show once again that there is still "juice in the batteries," according to the statement. "The Union's sponsor, Hebenstreit" would be better at a protest on Thursday.

Criticism also of the ÖVP

ÖVP traffic spokesman, Andreas Ottenschläger, also issued criticism: "The policy of train drivers is spelled out on the back," he wrote in a statement. "The pbadengers concerned, including many students or seniors who use the train every day, are now kissing involuntarily." He also accused Hebenstreit of political profiling: "The union president should now rule on whether their Hebenstreit representative is abusing his personal profiling function."

Great wait at Vienna Central Station. When the warning strike is over, is still open

Matthä did not want to say if Hebenstreit had used the strike to mark his fate. "Every pbadenger can have an image today," said the head of the ÖBB. To the question of whether the union continues the opposition political strike, "If you look at the history of these negotiations, you can very well see what that consists of."

Matthä also rejected the union's accusation that his company is under pressure from his employees. The ÖBB should register who is on strike, even the union recommends to all strikers to register. "We do not want employees to be under pressure, we will not do that, because I will take care of it … but we expect the same from the company committees."

Impact on pbadengers

In Vienna, ÖBB tickets are recognized by Wiener Linien. In Vorarlberg, all local pbadenger transport is carried out with 30 buses in alternative rail transport. Buses from Linz Airport and Graz are provided to travelers with air tickets. In addition to unbadigned Vienna airport lines, buses will also be provided to Vienna replacing rail services for connection to Vienna International Airport.

Employees must be deployed at key traffic points for advice and information about customers on the spot. The ÖBB has called on pbadengers to inform them about the ÖBB's social media channels and the Oebb.at website. The ÖBB customer service or hotline would only be occupied to a limited extent during the strike.

Also Westbahn badigned

ÖBB's competition does not hit, but can not use the rail network. ÖBB's rival, Westbahn, confirmed the restrictions imposed on the operation. An open letter, which vida had sent this weekend to the shareholder of Westbahn, Hans-Peter Haselsteiner, had no effect. It was a circular letter from the Westbahn management urging employees not to answer the call to strike. On the website, the Westbahn only mentioned the strike "from the traffic control center of the ÖBB". Trains coming from abroad, such as those of the private train company Regio Jet, headquartered in the Czech Republic, are also affected by the fact that cross-border rail traffic has been interrupted.

The collective agreement applies to ÖBB and Westbahn

The railway union and the employers negotiated a total of nine rounds of negotiations for a new collective agreement without agreement. It involves a KV degree for around 40,000 employees in more than 60 companies. According to their own calculations, employers offer 3% more wages and employees do not see a significantly lower increase than slightly above the inflation rate, partly because there was a gap of several months since the expiry of the old KV in June. The union does not cite its own concrete claims, but the employers claim that the sum of all the claims would result in an additional charge of 10%.
