At present, an estimated 1,400 people out of 11,700 people infected with HIV are unaware of their infection. Diagnosis is a prerequisite for initiation of treatment.
Fortunately, the treatment options are better than ever. About 9,700 people are currently receiving medication for their HIV infection (just under 600 more than in 2016). Living with HIV is always painful. until today, the infection is not curable. World AIDS Day aims to promote solidarity with HIV and AIDS and to fight against discrimination.
Education, protection, solidarity and anti-HIV tests are essential ingredients in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
