It's not really an exaggeration to say that Avengers: End of the game is the greatest movie of all time. The biggest in terms of the number of actors, in terms of scale, in terms of budget and the greatest accumulation in the history of cinema preceded by 21 films leading to a thrilling climax. Therefore the the biggest movie in the cinematic universe Marvel also the better of all? It is very close.
The Marvel mission …
I can confirm that Avengers: End of the game is the funniest of all the movies in the MCU with hysterical laughter lines, a fan service that will make you get up and applaud and just a few moments that will make you cry. In fact, I do not remember having applauded like this during a movie Return of the jedi in the 1980s in a movie theater, End of Game has already conquered the kid in me.
But Avengers: End of the game has a lot on his shoulders. This film must conclude the end of the cliffhanger of Avengers: war in the infinite as well as summarize the intrigues of many characters in the Marvel film universe. And, in addition, pass the torch to a new generation of Marvel characters. (A shot especially at the climax telegraphs this very clearly and the fans will either like or fight about it in the cloaca of conversations that divide on Twitter and YouTube).

End of Game must do all this by balancing so many characters that we know and love for over 10 years. The character is where Marvel excels and End of Game is no exception. The original show and action scenes have become the trademark of a Marvel movie (with bare-chested male roles – and if you do not believe me, watch these videos), convincing characters and easy to understand, that's why care and why the action actually makes sense.
I should note that it's almost impossible to talk about End of Game without discussing some things that can be considered spoilers. I will not reveal any major events in the third decisive act, but I will discuss the events leading up to the end. I highly recommend that to enjoy End of Game fully, you do not read more before seeing it. You might want to listen to our Avengers: End of the game episode of the movie Threat podcast which includes a non-spoiler discussion. But from now on, everything you read could to be considered a spoiler, then please stop reading now. Last warning. Stop. Reading. Now.
Territory Spoiler
The opening of End of Game find all our characters depressed as they manage their defeat against Thanos. Everyone is lost. Not only are they lost in the sense that their lives have become aimless, but they have also lost the fight of their lives with Thanos, which has caused the fact that half the population of the universe has shrunk in dust. In a shocking moment, I will not spoil, our heroes get together for a short mission. "to win" but with nothing really won.
It's here that the Russo brothers demonstrate their exceptional talent as storytellers to create a tone that looks a lot like a calm, character-driven independent film. We find that all our heroes suffer by trying to accept their failure. Steve Rogers is a slightly optimistic member of a support group trying to cope. Thor became drunk and jester. They are just trying to stay together. Tony Stark seems to be the only one to have found comfort in building a family with Pepper and his daughter who favors Dad. Tony has found a goal and happiness despite the incredible loss.

The first 30 minutes have a very dark tone. But when a random event pulls Ant-Man out of the quantum realm and brings it back to reality, things change quickly and a plan is emerging that could right the situation. Yes, this involves a trip back in time and collecting stones through various moments in history, as well as the history of the Marvel movie. This "time out" is a bold decision for the team, but it's certainly better than attending support group meetings or trying to cope. The various missions find our characters at specific times in the Marvel Universe, offering Steve Rogers and Tony Stark an opportunity to revisit and reconcile old relationships. A special mission for Steve and Tony is not only about the stones, but also about healing their friendship and their relationships with the most important ones.
Good
Although the action is original and fun, it's the moments of character that make End of Game so special. In fact, it can be funnier than War of Infinity. The film lasts three hours and I read some of the suggested moments where we could take a break in the bathroom, but I did not take it to heart. In fact, a suggested time for the Hulk lunch could be one of the most remarkable events, so do not miss it. It's a simple moment, but it seems straight out of the comics where a world with superheroes is just normal.
There are so many great moments and everyone has its favorites – Ant-man fanboying on Captain America, Banner / Hulk eating tacos, comments on Captain America's ass, Interactions with Rockets, and everyone else . Frankly, there are too many to list.
"Marvel clearly kept the best for the end …"
One thing that surprised me was that Brie Larson as a Captain Marvel do not ruin the film. In fact, there is much talk of how she has not yet earned her place as an Avenger, echoing in a way that many fans also think. It seems that the Russo brothers have found a way to place it in the film that makes sense and that it is part of the story roughly in the proper proportions. I wonder though if Captain Marvel as a character is so powerful, it makes it uninteresting. I know I'm going to sound like I'm contradicting myself a bit, but that brings up a discussion about the bad.
The bad
While Brie Larson as Captain Marvel do not spoil the film, it is a kind of distraction. It is difficult to erase her now infamous and bigoted tirade against white male critics, for which she never apologized or clarified. And in the recent press tour for End of Gameshe is doing so badly that she may have earned the title of "Bitter ex-wife of America."
In fact, I loved Brie Larson at Piece, for which she won an Oscar, but really not much else. Part of me admire him IDGAF Attitude when it comes to the weird nature of the entertainment industry. I do not even care about his fanatical statement against white male critics; frankly, we could use a more diverse group of writers / commentators / journalists in our collective conversation about movies.

What shocks me in her statement is that not only does she continue to create unnecessary divisions within our culture, but she also assumes that the group of critics she targets is unable to empathize. This is the very reason why we are passionate about cinema, to live the world in the place of someone else – to feel the feeling of being a super soldier, a genius in iron costume, a a king who dresses like a panther, who speaks a raccoon, an extraterrestrial tree who talks and who is addicted to video games, or even a powerful woman who can fly through space and fire laser punches. Empathy is the whole point of all art, whether we make it as a book, a comic book or a film. It's a shame, but it's hard not to think about it when Brie is on the screen, so do your best to get rid of it. (But it would not surprise me if Disney quietly replaced it in a year, as they did with Terrence Howard The Iron Man 2.)
All my other problems with End of Game These are really small things to say and small problems that allow a good discussion after, if you think a little too much about the film. How does the journey in time work? Are there several verses now? And people coming back from "Inapplicable" Do they find their old job? I look forward to discussing these issues with you, among others, at a comic-con very soon. (Or just comment below, there is no reason why we can not debate these issues now.)
The verdict
So where End of Game rank? Yes War of Infinity is The empire counter-attack, this means that End of Game is Return of the jedi, and I must say that I really enjoyed War of Infinity just a little more than End of Game. (I mean, with some tiny bugs that are really fun to discuss.) But we're also talking about two outstanding movies in the category once in a lifetime I think we are going to watch successful films and debate them for years. I am looking forward to seeing both movies immediately as a very long and satisfying film.
Marvel clearly kept the best for the end and I can not emphasize how much these moments of service to fans will make you applaud. I highly recommend you to see End of Game in a theater filled with fans so that you can live the culminating end with the energy of the crowd. It's as if Marvel had planned. Thanks to everyone involved, actors, writers, Russo brothers, fans and especially Stan Lee. Now, go read a comic.
