Barbara ‘Sugar’ Cunningham

KINGSFORD – Barbara “Sugar” Cunningham, 77, of Kingsford, died on Monday September 13, 2021 at her home.

Barbara was born on November 1, 1943 in Kingsford, daughter of Elwood and Lucille (Kopp-Phillips) Cunningham.

She loved gambling: playing scratch lottery tickets, going to the casino, playing the machines at Who’s Next, and playing poker at family reunions. She was also a huge fan of Elvis, who loved to cook and was witty with a great sense of humor.

Barbara is survived by her son, Larry Frizzell; grandchildren, Preston Frizzell and Marissa Tiedje Frizzell; siblings, Sharon “Biscuit” Eaton and Carole Schuirmann; special niece and nephew, Tina Bozile and Brian Bozile; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandra “Red” Paquette. Besides her son and grandchildren, she was particularly close to “Biscuit” and Tina, and her beloved dog, Lucy, who is waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Bruce “Boots” Phillips and Don Phillips; and a stepfather, Ivan Phillips.

Private services will take place at a later date.
