BATON ROUGE – Amid a rapid increase in COVID cases, mostly among unvaccinated people and young people, hospitals in the region announced changes to policy on visitors to facilities starting Sunday.

Visiting policy changes begin Sunday (July 18) and include one visitor or lawyer over 18 per patient. Visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
COVID-positive patients can only have one visitor for an hour a day, the hospital said.
For children seeking care at Notre-Dame-du-Lac and its children’s hospital, two “essential caregivers for adult patients” can be at the child’s bedside throughout the stay.

“We are troubled by the trend of cases and hospitalizations across our community,” Dr. O’Neal said in a statement Sunday.
“We know how important the support of family and loved ones is to our patients while we care for them, but limiting visits is important to protect our patients and our medical teams.”
Visitors authorized to enter the facility will be required to go through a screening process that includes temperature monitoring and answering questions related to symptoms, including fever 100.4 ° F or greater, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, congestion that is different from their typical seasonal allergies, body aches, fatigue, loss of smell / taste and / or diarrhea.
All visitors and patients must wear masks at the entrance and inside our facilities.
The Baton Rouge general also announced on Sunday that he was also updating his visitor policy.
BRG said its policy change on Sunday includes: One visitor per patient in most units, including its labor and delivery department and emergency room. A visitor is allowed to stay overnight.
